B.Tech is an undergraduate level professional engineering programme.

Therefore, the eligibility required to seek admission to B.Tech programme is clearing Class 12 or 10+2 from science stream. Students who have taken PCM group or the Physics Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects are preferred for the programme. Are you aspiring to pursue B.Tech from one of the top engineering colleges in India? If yes, it is mandatory to have awareness of B.Tech admission process, list of popular/ good B.Tech colleges in India, engineering entrance exams, dates of entrance exams and others. Not all the engineering colleges in India follow a similar admission process for the admission to B.Tech courses. Several engineering colleges have different components to determine the eligibility of candidates for B.Tech admission. On the other hand, the B.Tech course involves different specialisations like Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering etc. Students are free to choose any specialisation that suits their aim/ aspiration.

Diploma is an undergraduate level professional engineering programme

A diploma is a certificate or deed issued by an educational institution, such as college or university, that testifies that the recipient has successfully completed a particular course of study. The word diploma also refers to an academic award which is given after the completion of study in different courses such as diploma in higher education, diploma in graduation or diploma in post graduation etc. Historically, it can also refer to a charter or official document, The minimum qualification required for admission into a diploma course is passing of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC)/tenth standard/equivalent examination, with at least 35 percent in science and maths subjects. The state boards of technical education of most of the states in India conduct entrance tests for admission to the diploma programmes offered by various polytechnics in the state. A student who has attained the diploma is usually eligible to enter B.Tech./B.E. programmes in the second year under a lateral entry scheme. This fast-track admission is possible only after writing the LET, the Lateral Entry Test. If you do well on this test, you can apply to B.Tech./B.E. programmes.
